Deadly tornadoes struck Arkansas, Mississippi and Missouri on New Year's Eve and into the early morning hours of New Year's Day last week, killing eight people and damaging hundreds of homes. According to the Mississippi District Office, Byram Assembly of God in Jackson sustained some minor roof damage. The district's campground, Indian Springs Camp, is located in Attala County, which was hit by an E2 tornado and was reported as the hardest-hit county in the state. Some of the campground's trees were blown over, but there was no structural damage. While Indian Springs Camp was not greatly affected by the tornado, the Mississippi District reports that the Baptist campground located across the street was severely damaged. In Arkansas, where four people died, the district office had not yet received any reports of injury to AG people or property. Four people were killed by the storms in Missouri, but the Southern Missouri District did not receive any reports of damage or loss of life from local churches. |
