CAIRO, EGYPT (ANS) -- International broadcaster SAT-7 continues to express concern about the unrest in Egypt -- and the ministry's CEO has shared how his son was shot while serving water to demonstrators in Tahrir or "Revolution Square."

In an e-mail update to ASSIST News, SAT-7 says the ministry's staff in Cairo has experienced direct effects from the political disruption, as life's basic necessities of sustenance and security remain threatened.

One staff member based in Cairo sent the following assessment of what he and many others are enduring.

"I live near the Republican Palace of the President. There have been a lot of demonstrations lately, other than those in Tahrir Square. We are not sleeping. We are all on shifts, day and night, to protect our families and buildings from those who seek to destroy and vandalize."

Terry Ascott, SAT-7 CEO, notes that "resolution of the increasing unrest in Egypt remains uncertain. In addition to the tangible needs of the people, there is a greater need for peace, safety and hope throughout the country."

He adds that, "...we should not just stop there! Such historic moments in a nation's history offer the Church a dangerous but great opportunity to show the love of Christ to all, especially to their neighbors; to be salt and light in society; to be (and be seen to be) the Lord's instruments of peace, reconciliation and moderation.

"Such a time as this offers a great opportunity for the body of Christ, for all the Christians of Egypt. Pray they will not miss it."

Last week, Ascott shared a very personal story of how his son, an educator in Cairo, was shot in the face while distributing bottled water to both demonstrators and members of the military during one of the early days of protest. A shotgun pellet became dangerously lodged behind his left eye.

Terry sent the following update upon his son's release from the hospital.

"The 'bullet' was safely removed from behind my son's left eye (a metal shotgun pellet only about the size of a pea but with a jagged spike from a ricochet) and apparently no additional damage was done to the eye during the surgery," Ascott said.

"The eye has also now returned to a more normal position and he has already begun to regain some sight. In general, he has recovered quickly from the operation. Thank you all for your concern, kind offers of help and prayers. These were certainly answered today!"

Praise and Thanksgiving:

**For Terry's son's life being spared and for the concerned citizens who came alongside him immediately after the incident to escort him to a hospital.

**For SAT-7 prayer partners who have sent their own prayer requests in support of the ministry across the Middle East and North Africa, and their generous financial support through the Emergency Fund for the studios in Egypt.

Prayer Requests:

**For a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Egypt that results in a democratic society able to openly respond to the Gospel and come to Christ without fear of harm.

**That God will continue to allow SAT-7 programs to be a light of Truth and hope for all who watch.
