Hutton HotelIn a demand letter to an executive of the Hutton Hotel, an attorney for "The Constitution or Shariah: Preserving Freedom Conference" says the hotel "has unjustifiably and improperly cancelled the contract to provide the venue for this conference" and promises to "pursue all available remedies."

Matthew D, Staver, Founder and President of Liberty Counsel -- an international organization providing legal representation on issues affecting the rights of the faith-based community -- advised Stephen Eckley, Senior Vice President of Hotels for Amerimar Enterprises, that he represents the Conference organizers.

Over one hundred Catholic bishops and institutions across the nation, including Illinois, has issued statements denouncing the Obama administration's national requirement to include contraception in employees' health benefits. Bishop Thomas G. Doran of the Rockford, Ill. Diocese issued a strongly worded statement urging parishes to stand up against what he calls an assault on religious liberty.

(ANS) -- A mob of over 3000 Muslims have just attacked Copts in the village of Kobry-el-Sharbat (el-Ameriya), Alexandria, Egypt. Coptic homes and shops were looted before being set ablaze. Two Copts and a Muslim were injured.

Mary Abdelmassih, writing for the Assyrian International News Agency (www.aina.org) said that the violence started after a rumor was spread that a Coptic man had an allegedly intimate photo of a Muslim woman on his mobile phone. The Coptic man, Mourad Samy Guirgis, surrendered to the police for his protection.

Vanderbilt UniversityVanderbilt University was founded in 1873 by the Methodist Church.  In 1914, the school and church severed ties (leading Methodists to create Southern Methodist University in Dallas).  Last year, Vanderbilt forced the Christian Legal Society on its campus to remove Bible verses and the words "Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior" from its constitution.  Now the university has stated that Christian groups cannot have guidelines requiring specific beliefs for their leaders.
