Since many Christians don't seem to have the gumption or wherewithal to do it, it's refreshing to see anyone defending Christianity. When the defender happens to be a jew, it approaches breathtaking.

Emeritus professor of political science and former head of the Intelligence Studies Section of the International Studies Association, Abraham H. Miller does just that in "Christianity: First Line of Defense for the West?" Published on PajamasMedia.com, the article posits a rarely-seen truth, that "The one solid, inescapable organizing principle that stands as the bulwark against radical Islam is Christianity."

Miller defends Christianity and Christians, real Christians, that is, people who "who get up every morning and genuinely reflect on how they could become better people by becoming more like Jesus," on many bases. Those bases include exposing the hypocrisy and intolerance which allows pseudo-sophisticates like late night comics and even his fellow jews to preach tolerance for Muslims at the same time they ridicule the "moral clarity" and "moral precision" of Christianity on such matters as abortion and racial discrimination.

As Miller writes, "I have never seen a Christian blow himself up on a bus full of innocent people, declare holy war on the unbeliever, or stone a congregant for adultery." Nor has he seen "Jesus followers that crashed airplanes into the World Trade Center . . . [nor] Jesus followers who attack Jews on the streets of Paris so frequently and violently."

Yet, Christians and never Muslims are pilloried and mocked regularly by America's and Europe's pseudo-sophisticates.

Miller points the finger of hypocrisy at members of his own faith who preached tolerance toward Islam following 9/11 and who defended the building of the Ground Zero mosque after expressing outrage over building a convent in Auschwitz and who read aloud from the Koran in a public park in Berkeley but who will call in the ACLU to protest a Christmas tree in the same park.

Miller also takes a well-aimed shot at the United States in 2010 and its politically correct leadership by saying, "No one stopped the spread of a virulent, hateful ideology with nothing. No one is going to charge a machine gun nest in the name of multiculturalism. No one takes seriously a president who grovels in front of Muslim dictators, apologizes for Western civilization, thinks nationalism is a sin, and is married to an angry woman who is ashamed of her country."

(I believe that last is an unsubtle reference to the current residents of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C.)

Miller's most chilling remarks concern the devolution of Europe into a Muslim continent due to its feeble debility where "The cynical, ultra-left Europeans have turned over their countries to the sensibilities of radical Islam. The Europeans, ever fearful and guilty of fascism, do not possess the wherewithal to resist an Islam that undermines the very liberalism Europeans seem to cherish but are unwilling to defend."

He evokes a disturbing image when he asks the question, "What will Europe look like when a sharia-driven, radical Islam is the dominant presence on the continent?" (http://tiny.cc/hoso3)

I don't think it will be a pretty picture, except to Muslims.

Abraham Miller concludes his excellent defense of Christianity by making this prediction: "The great irony of our time is the Christianity the left scoffs at will emerge as the first-line of defense for the West."
