ISLAMABAD, PASKISTAN (ANS) -- The world’s most wanted terrorist, Al-Qaeda founder and leader Osama Bin Laden is dead, according to US officials.

The US is in possession of Bin Laden's body, the reports say.

The BBC reports that he is accused of being behind a number of atrocities, including the attacks on New York and Washington on September 11, 2001.

The al-Qaeda leader was killed in a mansion outside Islamabad in an operation based on actionable US intelligence, CNN has reported.

The BBC says, “Crowds gathered outside the White House in Washington DC, chanting ‘USA, USA’ after the news emerged.
